Mill Rate To Rise 2% In New Canaan As Town Council Approves Budgets

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan Town Council has unanimously approved the town and school budges for 2016-17, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

On Wednesday, the Town Council members approved a town budget of $144,073,849, which is 2.09 percent higher than this year's budget, according to the Advertiser.

In addition, the school budget of $86,240,844 was also approved, added the Advertiser.

As a result, New Canaan's mill rate will rise 2.05 percent to 16.312 mills, an increase of 3.17 in the property tax rate, the Advertiser said.
