NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Train service will be provided on the New Canaan Branch for the 5:43 p.m. departing Stamford for New Canaan, Metro-North announced Thursday afternoon.

After a minor derailment Thursday morning, Metro-North first ran train service from Talmadge Hill, skipping the New Canaan train station. By late morning, substitute bus service was running, which continued along the New Canaan Branch for the afternoon rush hour.

Metro-North said the morning incident was a minor derailment of one car of a non-passenger train in the New Canaan Yard.

On the derailed train, one car is partially blocking the track leading to the New Canaan station from the rail yard, according to the Connecticut Post.

Aaron Donovan, a Metro-North spokesman, told the Post that no passengers were on the train when one car’s wheel left the track. Equipment will be needed to reposition the car back on the track, the Post said.
