A New York man who went through the halls of Saxe Middle School early Thursday morning faces a trespassing charge from New Canaan Police.
Police charged Oleh Shuplat, 24, of Carmel, N.Y., with simple trespass.
Police said Shuplat entered Saxe just before 6:55 a.m. Thursday before students arrived for classes. Police said Shuplat, who was observed by video surveillance cameras, entered the lower level floor of the school and walked through the building for a few minutes. Police said the man had no intent to commit a crime while in the school.
Saxe Principal Greg Macedo sent a letter to parents Thursday afternoon advising them of an unidentified man in the building. The school arranged for additional staff supervision at the school's entrances and asked parents to report suspicious activity on campus.
Macedo said none of the students was in any danger on Thursday. Increased supervision of the campus will remain in effect, Macedo said.
