NEW CANAAN, Conn. Kate Regan, the New Canaan woman charged in the hit-and-run death of an elderly man two years ago, once again had her case continued in Norwalk Superior Court on Wednesday.
Regans case, still in the pretrial phase, will resume Nov. 7, her attorney John Gulash Jr. said. No trial date has been set.
Regan has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility resulting in physical injury or death, both felonies. Her case has gone through a series of continuances.
New Canaan Police said Regan was driving a 2008 Infiniti QX56 when she struck Krishna S. Jayaraman, 82, while he was at the mailbox outside his home Aug. 18, 2010. Jayaraman died from his injuries at Norwalk Hospital. Police arrested Regan on Nov. 3, 2010, after an investigation.
Regan and her husband, Michael, are also facing a civil suit filed by Jayaramans family in Stamford Superior Court.
