NEW CANAAN, Conn. - Jane Ann Muschamp, of New Canaan, died at home Jan. 7 after a long struggle with cancer. She was 65.
Muschamp was born on Aug. 16, 1946 in St. Louis Park, Minn., the daughter of Lawrence H. Muschamp and the late Ferne E. Muschamp. She received her bachelor of business administration from the University of Denver in 1968, and a masters degree from the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communications in 1977. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she completed a traineeship in Switzerland and then returned to New York City to start her career in advertising with Benton and Bowles. She later formed her own corporate communications company, working for clients including AT&T and JP Morgan. While living in New York, she enjoyed spending summers with friends on the shore in eastern Connecticut. She moved to New Canaan in 1985. She has been an active member of the New York unit of the Herb Society of America for many years. She was an avid cook and enjoyed participating in the EATS group in New Canaan. She also was a longtime active member of the Congregational Church of New Canaan. In addition to her husband, Muschamp is survived by her daughter, Sarah M. Stevens, of Washington, D.C.; her son, Spencer M. Stevens, of New Canaan; her father, Lawrence Muschamp; and her brother, James Muschamp, of St. Louis Park, Minn. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Jan. 28, at the Congregational Church of New Canaan.
