Town Highway Department Superintendent Mose Saccary praised crews in town for the hours of time they put in to make streets passable following the record snowfall. Work began just after midnight Sunday and was finished by 7:30 a.m. Monday, he said.

“The parking lots and (cul-de-sacs) are done, all the roads are clear,” Saccary said.

Some snow was piled up on Elm Street as it was in previous major snowfalls.

“It was not easy at all,” Saccary said. “But we got great support from the people of Town Hall and we have a great crew.”

Saccary noted that one of the more difficult parts of the cleanup was dealing with piles of snow dumped on to streets by private companies working to clear different residential properties. Some of those companies were warned about that, he said.

With the roads cleared, Saccary said he and the other highway department workers are “hoping for April and daffodils.”
