Residents who use the Hickok Road Bridge will have to find a new route for the next seven months.
The New Canaan Public Works Department will begin reconstruction plans on the bridge Monday, closing the bridge to traffic. Traffic will be detoured to the Mariomi Road Bridge until the end of the year. Public Works Director Mike Pastore said the project should cost about $1.4 million.
The assistant public works director said the bridge needs repairs due to age and scour, erosion that is the leading cause of bridge failure.
For more information about the closure, call the public works department at (203) 594-3054.
