Flood Watch Continues

UPDATE: The powerful storm that pushed through the area dumping up to 2 inches of rain an hour, caused flooded roads, scattered power outages and downed tree limbs. A flood watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday.

No major delays were reported on Metro-North. Town officials urged drivers to be cautious. Drivers were warned not to drive on flooded streets because standing water can be deeper than it appears.After the storm moves through this afternoon, the forecast call for cool, clear weather Friday night and Saturday.

On Thursday, rorecasts calling for heavy rain and strong wind gusts prompted New Canaan Public Schools to cancel all after-school activities. Classes at all public schools were dismissed at their regular times. St. Aloysius School in New Canaan also canceled all after-school activities. At St. Luke's School, all after-school activities were canceled and the upper school parents meeting was postponed.
