Ex-Bus Driver Faces 41 Counts

The New Canaan Police Department filed 41 new charges against former Weston and Stamford school bus driver Scott DeiCas in Norwalk Criminal Court Thursday morning, according to published reports. Along with the charges the town of Weston brought against DeiCais Monday, the 48-year-old New Canaan man now faces 30 charges of second-degree harassment, five charges of second-degree threatening, and one charge each of interfering with an officer, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Police say DieCas sent 35 emails to town officials, employees and police officers. Many of the messages reportedly said, "Get ready scum ... Prepare for what LSD has planned for you pig." Five of the emails made more specific threats, saying in one, "Now I will destroy you weak mentally scum pigs for what you have done to me and David Caulfield." It is no clear who Caulfield is.

DeiCas was arrested at his Ponus Ridge Road home Saturday morning after a 10-hour standoff with New Canaan police. When officers searched his house after the incident, they found 11 grams of marijuana, marijuana seeds, various smoking implements and a substance they believe to be LSD. DeiCas posted videos on YouTube detailing his LSD use, and mentioned in posts on the website that he planned to take 500 micrograms of the drug the weekend he was arrested at the Gathering of the Vibes festival.

DeiCas is still in police custody on $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Aug. 16.
