NEW CANAAN, Conn. Mark Robbins of New Canaan is in the mix to fight to succeed John Hetherington in the Connecticut General Assembly.
Robbins, 43, won the Democratic nomination to run for the 125th House District seat in November. He was unanimously nominated by fellow Democrats from New Canaan and Wilton in a meeting at New Canaan Town Hall. The district includes New Canaan and part of Wilton.
Robbins served on New Canaans Long Range Planning Committee and is a member of the towns Conservation Commission. He is also a trustee at the New Canaan Nature Center.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to advocate for the residents of New Canaan and Wilton and a time of great momentum. I am uniquely positioned to succeed and to represent the collective interests of our towns at the state level, Robbins said. I am running now to dedicate my professional expertise to negotiating for the good of our residents.
Robbins will run against fellow New Canaan resident and Town Council member Thomas ODea, a Republican who announced his candidacy in March after Hetherington said he wouldnt run for another term.
