Cops Stop New Canaan Teen Party, Arrest Woman

An 18-year-old New Canaan woman who police said was intoxicated and verbally abusive to officers was arrested outside a party at New Canaan’s Outback Teen Center March 7.

Carla J. Parades of East Avenue was charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer. Police said they received a report at about 9 p.m. that a number of youths were intoxicated outside of the teen center, which is located behind Town Hall. The Outback, which is run by the New Canaan YMCA, was hosting a dance that night.

Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said there were about 200 people at the party. Officers shut down the party at about 9 p.m., two hours early. Two teens were taken to Norwalk Hospital for intoxication, Ogrinc said.

Police said Parades was intoxicated and stumbled into one of the officers. Parades then became belligerent and shouted obscenities at the officers, police said. She was arrested and later released on a promise to appear Friday in Norwalk Superior Court.
