This time they couldnt run away! New Canaan police finally caught up with two robbery suspects they had been chasing for months. Turns out the twosome was already in prison.
The NCPD charged Fabian Rodriguez, 26, of Ansonia and Melissa Trotter, 25, of Greenwich for incidents in December 2009 and April 2010. Rodriguez is wanted for three robberies in New Canaan on December 8, 2009. He and an accomplice allegedly broke into homes at 23 Braeburn Drive, 221 Old Norwalk Road and 11 Hickory Road.
In the incident on Old Norwalk Road, the homeowner arrived while the suspects were still in the house, noticing a strange car in the driveway and panels kicked out of her garage door. She reported that Rodriguez tried to take her purse, but after a struggle he gave up and fled the scene.
New Canaan Police located Rodriguez and identified him as the burglar after he was arrested for other home burglaries in Milford, Orange and Trumbull. Officers brought him from the Bridgeport Correctional Center to Norwalk Superior Court on July 30 and police charged him with conspiracy to commit burglary, three counts of third-degree burglary and one count each of third-, fifth-, and sixth-degree larceny.
Trotter, who was charged on July 23, was allegedly involved in a credit card theft at the Beach Corner on Main Street April 27. An accomplice distracted the shop owner while Trotter took her wallet. The pair then made four credit card charges.
Trotter is currently serving time in the York Correctional Institution in Niantic for an unrelated crime. She arrived at Norwalk Superior Court on the 23rd, where she was charged with sixth-degree larceny, credit card theft and two counts of illegal use of a credit card.
