NEW CANAAN, Conn. A Danbury man who allegedly stole toiletries from a New Canaan pharmacy is facing a pair of charges from New Canaan Police.
Paul S. Northrop, 30, of Mountain View Terrace, was charged last Wednesday with sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree criminal attempted larceny. Police said a female employee of the CVS Pharmacy at 94 Park St. told police she saw a white man putting items from the store in his pockets. When officers arrived, they approached Northrop and found he had two deodorant products in his pockets. Police searched his vehicle and found a bottle of mouthwash, a package of dental floss and a bottle of shampoo. The items Northrop allegedly stole were worth nearly $22.
Northrop was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear July 18 in Norwalk Superior Court.

Police were investigating the theft of a Silvermine Road mans identity used to get a credit card. Police said the 40-year-old man told police last Wednesday that he was contacted by a collection agency requesting payment for a $1,800 MasterCard bill. Police said someone used the victims name and Social Security number in March to open the account. Police do not know what was purchased with the card.
Suzanne Anato, 41, of Hilltop Drive, Stratford, was charged last Wednesday with second-degree failure to appear after her arrest at New Canaan police headquarters. Police said Anato failed to appear June 10 in Norwalk Superior Court on charges of operating under suspension, failure to return a license and speeding from a March 2 motor vehicle stop. Anato was released on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 19.
Police were investigating the theft of a computer from a car parked in the Park Street parking lot last Thursday. Police said a 50-year-old Vermont resident parked her car at about 4:15 p.m. and left her windows about a quarter of the way down. When she returned at about 5:30 p.m., a black canvas bag, a Gateway laptop computer and charger, two picture frames and a notebook were missing. Police found no forced entry, and the driver did not know whether the car was locked.
Police were investigating unauthorized credit card charges on an Oak Street residents credit card.
Police said a woman contacted them at 10:29 a.m. Friday to report five unauthorized charges made on her credit card account in Italy. The largest was for $536 and the smallest was for $2.90. Police said the victim had not traveled to Italy. The total value of the fraudulent charges was nearly $570.
