NEW CANAAN, Conn. Police are investigating more than $18,000 in damages to a Michigan Road rental property. They said someone went through the home and scratched the wood floors, made holes in the walls and damaged the ceilings. Police said the owner believes the previous tenant is responsible. The vandalism was reported last Wednesday.
In other police news:
? Police are investigating the theft of about $10,000 worth of fishing equipment from a vehicle parked on Cheese Spring Road. The theft occurred sometime before last Wednesday afternoon. The missing items included rods, reels and a tackle box.
? Police are looking into the theft of seven campaign signs near the Mobil gas station on South Avenue. They said the signs, all for New Canaan Town Council candidate Roy Abramowitz, were removed before 12:30 p.m. last Tuesday, the day of the Republican Town Committee caucus.
? Police are also investigating the theft of a cell phone from the Waveny Park pool. A 40-year-old woman reported her iPhone was taken last Thursday afternoon.
? Police are trying to determine how the fence at an East Avenue home was damaged. They said the damage occurred sometime overnight last Saturday. Authorities were not sure how the fence was knocked down, nor did they have a damage estimate on Monday.
