Word of Snow Causes Mood Swing in New Canaan

The unseasonably warm temperatures have had Veronica Buzzi longing for spring to really kick in. So Buzzi’s afternoon of enjoyment with her 17-month-old son, Leo, at Mead Park in New Canaan was perhaps a bit spoiled when she heard more snow is headed our way.

“The first day of spring was Monday, and you expect that [snow] is kind of over,” said Buzzi, 42, of North Stamford. “It’s kind of like, ‘Enough already.’ ”

But it appears March just might go out like a lion. The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of rain and snow Tuesday evening. And snow and rain will continue throughout Wednesday, with highs near 40 degrees. The forecast for Wednesday evening is snow and sleet, and snow is likely for Thursday, with highs in the low 40s.

Alexandra Garrigues, 14, of Stamford, is not at all excited about the prospect of more snow, even though she’s on spring break from King Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford. She’d prefer a repeat of Tuesday’s sunny skies so she can relax and listen to music while her younger sister, Lauren, 8, plays. “I’m tired of the snow,” Alexandra said. “I just wanted it to be sunny. I want to be able to go to the beach again.”
