WJL Psychotherapy is now operating at 72 Park St. in New Canaan and specializes in treating business executives.

Lancaster has an MBA from the University of New South Wales in Sydney as well as a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Fairfield University. He specializes in counseling business executives in recovery or facing other problems.

As a former senior executive in the pharmaceutical industry, Lancaster says that he brings to his counseling a unique understanding of the pressures and the challenges that business executives face.

“So when my clients are grappling with issues related to substance abuse, mood or anxiety disorders, depression, anger management, or a significant life event, they find it particularly helpful to work with a professional who has not only the prerequisite clinical expertise but business leadership experience as well,” Lancaster says.

Lancaster adds that his approach to counseling includes cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, tools that personally served him well in his business career.

“After building a trusting relationship with my clients, I help them navigate their emotions in a healthy manner; identify their values; and prioritize and maintain their commitments,” he says.

Before establishing his private practice, Lancaster worked for several years at Silver Hill, most recently as a senior residential counselor in the hospital’s transitional living program. Before that, he worked in the hospital’s Recovery Support Follow-Up Service. Additionally, Lancaster has worked with clients at Fairfield Counseling Service, a community mental health agency, and Westport House, a sober living facility.

He also currently supervises graduate students in the clinical mental health program at Fairfield University.

Lancaster sees clients at his office at 72 Park St., Suite 201, New Canaan, but he can arrange counseling sessions at or near the homes or work places of clients with demanding schedules.
