NEW CANAAN, Conn. Where to get a hair cut, traffic congestion and what to do for the long Memorial Day weekend were some of what New Canaan residents had on their minds when we spoke to them Thursday afternoon.
Will Bruno, 20, working at Zumbachs Gourmet Coffee on Pine Street, was thinking ahead to the holiday weekend.
Im not sure whats going to happen, he said, though noting he didnt plan to travel. Ill find something to do around here.
Perhaps hell be tasked to help his brother John, 21. The elder Bruno brother was thinking about where he could go to get a hair cut. He had not had clippers touch his follicles for about two months. Its been a long time, John Bruno said. Its usually every three weeks. I just let it go.
Nick Howard of West Road voiced his frustration about the traffic on Park, Pine and Cherry streets near the New Canaan Post Office. Its always congested in the afternoon, he said.
Janet Porter of Fairfield, who works at Brown, Thayer and Shedd, was thinking about getting lunch while avoiding Thursdays rain that had many people on Pine Street scurrying for shelter. Im going to get a salad up at Tonys (Deli) up the street, she said.
Rain likely wont scare Mark Brown, who lives on Brushy Ridge Road. He was thinking about riding his bike. He plans to head to New Hampshire for the holiday weekend to do some mountain biking.
Its a nice way to get some exercise, he said.
