Sotheby's Gets in the St. Patrick's Day Spirit

Brokerage firms are not necessarily known for a festive atmosphere, but the team at William Pitt Sotheby’s had themselves a jolly green time on Thursday.

“Everybody is Irish today” said broker Rita Kirby, among the happy team at Sotheby’s celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Just about everyone in the office was showing some Irish pride. Nearly all of them had a little green on their clothing, whether it was a green scarf, shamrock earrings or full out green shirts. Tom Kerrigan went bold, wearing a green dress shirt along with a necklace filled with 4-leaf clovers. The neckwear was his daughter’s idea, Kerrigan said. Kerrigan even handed down a funny office mandate: If you didn’t wear green to the office on Thursday, you couldn’t come in until you found some.

St. Patrick’s Day “really brings everyone together,” said Susan Blabey, who changed her name to “Susan O’Blabey” for the day.

As fun as the day was, the brokers were also looking forward to the evening  and the chance to celebrate with Guinness and green-colored beer.
