A peek into the sky made Devon Kelley a bit sad Monday afternoon. She enjoyed the mild weekend temperatures and a feeling that spring was just around the corner, that is until she saw flakes falling Monday and feared winter was not quite over.
I was getting excited for winter to finally be over. I even saw bugs going around, said Kelley, 18, of Greenwich, who had just finished having lunch with Dru Serkes of New Canaan. This is kind of a letdown.
The presence of snowflakes disappointed and surprised people walking downtown. Spring is only a few days off it begins Sunday but you could understand if people were ready to put their boots and gloves away until November.
Serkes, 21, said the flakes were something of a bummer. He added, however, that it was better than the pouring rain we had last week.
Forecasts call for temperatures to rise into the mid 50s during the week, though rain is expected Wednesday. Fridays highs are predicted to reach the lower 60s.
