The New Canaan Preservation Alliance will celebrate famed architectural teacher Vincent Scully by showing a documentary of his life at the group's annual fall program.
The preservation alliance will feature "Vincent Scully: An Art Historian Among Architects" at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Country Club of New Canaan, 95 Country Club Road.
The film portrays Scully's career as a professor, architect, art historian and writer through interviews with nine of his students from different generations and the architects closest to him. Scully, a longtime professor at Yale University, has taught for 50 years. Preservation alliance President Mary Findlay said Scully might be the most important art historian ever. He has regularly visited New Canaan in his career, she said.
"The books he's written had a great impact on architectural history," Findlay said. The documentary "is educational, amusing and really informational."
A reception will follow the screening.
