NEW CANAAN, Conn. Adam Truelove and the rest of the staff at the Pine Social are ready for visitors to come and take a bite out of New Canaan make that a few bites.
The Pine Social and other town restaurants will be encouraging foodies to dine out a lot as the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce presents its first-ever Restaurant Week. The event begins this Friday and runs until Sept. 3.
Chamber Executive Director Tucker Murphy said Restaurant Week makes sense for New Canaan with so many eateries now open in the downtown area. She and others are hoping it will be a fun way to get people interested in restaurants and other shops in town.
Our goal was to get people to try the restaurants theyve never tried before. Its also good for restaurants to put out their best menus possible to make them shine, Murphy said. This is such a food destination, and the timing is just right.
Participating restaurants will have prix fixe menus that will offer some savings. The Pine Socials Restaurant Week menu will include three courses with really nice takes of classics such as creamy polenta and grilled skirt steak, said Truelove, executive chef there.
He hopes visitors will be curious and daring enough to try other Pine Social dishes while theyre out for the evening or on subsequent visits. Were excited to see how it works, he said.
A special Taste of the Town Stroll will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Participants will collect a stroll map and visit several restaurants and other stores to sample treats. Visitors who visit at least eight locations can become eligible for prizes, including two roundtrip tickets to Europe or South America on American Airlines.
