New Canaanites Cool Their Heels at Waveny Pool

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Chris Newlove enjoys the crisp, cool days of fall. That means football season, and Chris can watch and play the gridiron game.

But when it’s hot and balmy, as it was Monday afternoon, a cool pool is Chris’ favorite place. “I get to go swimming and have fun with my friends,” Chris, 12, said as he played pool basketball in Waveny Park.

Plenty of New Canaanites took to the waters on Monday as temperatures skirted 90 degrees. Warm weather is expected to continue through the week. Temperatures will push into the mid-90s on Tuesday and be accompanied by thunderstorms. Skies will clear Wednesday, and highs will rise into the upper 80s. It will feel much less humid on Thursday and Friday, when temperatures are expected to be in the low 80s under mostly sunny skies.
