He is one of the celebrities in Saturday’s Dancing With The Stars benefit to support Stamford’s Curtain Call Theatre.

Rosenfeld, who owns New Balance New Canaan, will compete with Karen Casagrande of Hotshoes. Money raised from the event supports the Stamford community theater. Readers can support Rosenfeld and other dancers by voting online.

“It’s been an incredible journey,’’ Rosenfeld said. “It’s been a great experience because it gave me a chance to exercise.”

Rosenfeld and Casagrande have been practicing two nights a week since March to prepare for the show, which begins at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Palace Theatre in Stamford.

“I learned I’m pretty clumsy,’’ Rosenfeld said. “I’m picking it up though. I’ve danced a little bit at weddings and stuff like that, but nothing like this. My daughter says it’s my midlife crisis.”

Rosenfeld said Casagranda created a dance that has “a little bit of everything.”

“People are going to see the Hustle, a Cha Cha, a Lindy. They’re even going to see a little ‘Ron Travolta.’ We might not have the best dance, but we’re certainly to have something that’s fun and entertaining.”

The hardest part was learning the steps and getting the timing down. “If I was catching a baseball or throwing a football, it would not have been hard. That’s why I sell sneakers,’’ Rosenfeld said. “I don’t dance and I don’t sing.”

The dance has come together in recent rehearsals, and he will have additional practices on the Palace stage on Saturday before the show, he said.

Rosenfeld will receive a lot of support from his friends in the recreational sports community, where has been an avid and longtime supporter of events throughout the county. Her promises an entertaining dance with Casagrande.

“I know my wife (Tina) is going to laugh, just like everybody else,’’ Rosenfeld said. “There’s nothing I do that she doesn’t expect. This has been a lot of fun. My dance partner has been great.”
