“Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible we are so thankful to each and everyone one of you! We have a lot of personal thanks left to do which we will once our backer list is re-released to us! Thank you again and stay tuned for more updates as the day goes on!!!” Scandiffio and Schwarz wrote on the film’s Facebook page.
The two held their successful fund-raising effort from June 20 through July 20 earning $70,781 from 417 different backers, their page on the website said. The project had to rally at the end to reach its goal as it was about $3,000 away with less than three hours left, the page said.
Scandiffio and Schwarz will be filming parts of the movie in New Canaan and wanted it to be the town’s movie, which will help now that resident and bestselling author James Frey came aboard as executive producer. Frey’s works include "A Million Little Pieces," "My Friend Leonard," "Bright Shining Morning," and "I Am Number Four," the latter written under a pseudonym.
“Having James on this project brings it up to a whole new level, and we are so ecstatic to begin working with him,” the two wrote on their page.
“Those Who Wonder,” is a coming-of-age comedy about being 20 years old and the struggles that come with it, the page said. It tells the story of two best friends who set off on a road trip with several others and what takes place along the way.
