NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Members of United Methodist Church of New Canaan teamed with Boy Scout Troop No. 31 to provide food and clothes for homeless people in New York City.

The groups participated in "Midnight Run," whose goal is to forge a bond between housed and homeless people by establishing a foundation of sharing and caring from which solutions may evolve.

The United Methodist Church of New Canaan, with help from the Service League of Boys, Boy Scout Troop No. 31, and the United Methodist Women, sorted through bags and bags of donated clothing, shoes and blankets. Soup and bagged meals were prepared by the National Charity League of New Canaan and the Boy Scouts.

The sorted items and food were then loaded into the Midnight Run van by a team of five church members and taken and distributed at three stops in New York City.

People who would like to donate clothing or make a contribution can contact Donna James
