Christopher Russo, who has owned a home in New Canaan, turns 55 on Saturday. The sports radio personality was born Oct. 18, 1959, in Syosset, N.Y.
Russo is best known as the former co-host of the widely popular "Mike and the Mad Dog" sports radio show, which was broadcast on WFAN in New York City and simulcast on the YES Network.
During his career he got the "Mad Dog" nickname from New York Daily News Sports TV and Radio critic Bob Raissman. He also worked for WKIS in Orlando, Fla., between 1984 and 1987 and WMCA in New York City between 1987 and 1988.
He has joined Sirius XM Radio and is in charge of his own channel, Mad Dog Radio. He now hosts an afternoon radio show, "Mad Dog Unleashed."
Russo has done his shows from the US Open, Brookside, Grand Lake and the Jersey Shore on many occasions.
In 2013, he was re-signed by Sirius XM for three years, which includes a daily hosting job on a new baseball show, "High Heat," on MLB Network that will be simulcast on MLB Network Radio.
