The Baldanza Soup Kitchen line features natural ingredients and will sell in area markets. Two percent of proceeds will support the services and programs of the Connecticut Food Bank.
The soups currently are on sale at Walter Stewart's in New Canaan and will be available at other area stores soon.
They also will be available for sampling at the Jamie Oliver Food Revolution event May 14. Food Revolution Day is aimed at promoting excitement for food in kids. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pop Up Park in New Canaan.
The event will feature music, food and activities for children. Chef Plum of Plum Luv Foods in Newtown and a winner of Food Network's "Guy's Grocery Games" will host the event. Attendees are invited to donate nonperishable food items for a food drive conducted that day.
Children can be issued "Bravery Passports" to explore local restaurants and shops on a "food trail" to learn about and try new foods and healthy choices. For additional information, visit www.rachellampen.com/food-revolution.
The Baldanzas reached out to the Connecticut Food Bank in an effort to bring food to hungry people in the community. Their soups use fresh, organic ingredients when possible and are vegan and gluten-free.
