A Better Chance Says Thanks for Fundraiser

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – This letter was written by Laura Wilson and Suzanne Einstein, co-chairs of the A Better Chance of New Canaan fundraiser.

The A Better Chance of New Canaan program was met with an overwhelming expression of support at our 38th annual fundraiser on Oct. 1 at The Country Club of New Canaan. Our guests were given the opportunity to get to know more about what our amazing program is all about as well as the chance to interact with our extraordinary young men who work so hard to successfully meet the high standards set up by this national organization. It was also an opportunity for guests to meet the board, staff, host families and the multitude of volunteers, without whose passion and tireless efforts we would not succeed.

We would like to thank James Connolly and his extraordinary staff from the Country Club of New Canaan who worked magic accommodating our crowd of supporters.

We are so thankful to Nicholas Howard, who had the demanding task of auctioneer, and who maneuvered through the entire process with finesse and expertise. We are also incredibly grateful to the generosity of Henry C. Reid & Son Jewelers for donating an exquisite pair of Leslie Greene earrings for our grand raffle prize, Creative Insights on Main Street, which again worked enthusiastically on our invitations and programs, and Kitchen by Deane, Erin Hedley of “La Damme du Fromage,” New Canaan Wine Merchants and Karl Chevrolet, which contributed auction items for the event.

Our ABC students leave their families to come to New Canaan to pursue a better education and a better opportunity for their future. New Canaan High School provides them with excellent opportunities and support to become future leaders. They take part in sports, school government, community service and town youth groups. These boys live by stricter rules and harder consequences than many of their peers and succeed graciously at doing so.

Thank you all for your support!
