That's because Nick's mom, Ann, who used to work part-time at the New Canaan Library and headed the local Welcome Wagon, has been suffering from ALS for the past five years.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a debilitating nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. Ann, a vital member of the community who was known for her vivaciousness, warmth, generosity, and compassion, now requires full-time round the clock care to keep her at home which is beyond what her husband Warner, Nick and his sister Michaela can provide.
The medical costs of $10,000 to $12,000 per month have taken a toll financially so Nick, an accomplished musician and songwriter, has been performing fundraising concerts when he can. There is also a GoFundMe page.
The next event is a musical dinner Wednesday. Sept. 27 at Baldanza Cafe to celebrate the release of Nick's new album “Don’t Be Sorry," a mix of old-time folk, jazz, rock, and blues.
The $50 fee includes a three-course dinner, live music, plus a donation to ALS. It will be held from 7:30 p.m.to 9:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased directly by visiting Baldanza Cafe, 17 Elm St., 203-966- 4000 or visiting Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nick-depuy-album-release-dinner-tickets-36440131414?aff=ehomesaved.
