The Carriage Barn Arts Center and New Canaan Society for the Arts in partnership with the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce have opened the call for submissions of 2D works, including prints, paintings, drawings, photography, and mixed media, and small 3D sculptures.
The art will be displayed May 30 to June 14 in the storefronts and on walls of participating New Canaan businesses.
"We are excited to celebrate our local talent and display some colorful art in store windows. It is great exposure for the artists because you’re right downtown," said Carriage Barn Executive Director Hilary Wittman.
Artists are asked to submit representational or non-representational work with a concentration on one color or a multitude of colors.
Participating stores are encouraged to collaborate with the artists and create complimentary colorful window displays.
There will be artists receptions, wine tastings, art related fun and prizes at the may 30 exhibit opening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in downtown New Canaan.
All displayed works will be for sale with 50% or half of the proceeds (before tax) returning to the artist and 50% or half of the proceeds benefitting the New Canaan Society for the Arts.
Works must be wired for hanging and may be placed on easels.
