What's Happening In New Canaan This Weekend

Friday

“Scapes” Exhibit at Heather Gaudio Fine Art Gallery: 11 a.m. The exhibit Scapes, photographs by Bonnie Edelman, is open through Sept. 26. It consists of abstract images of landscapes, seascapes, and skyscapes. Heather Gaudio Fine Art Gallery, 21 South Ave.

New Canaan High School freshman football: 4 p.m. The New Canaan High School freshman football team hosts Trinity Catholic at the Water Tower Turf Field. New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road.

Saturday

New Canaan Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit vendors selling farm fresh foods, soaps, crafts and other treats. The Farmers Market is open every Saturday rain or shine through Nov. 17. Center School Parking Lot at Maple and Main streets.

New Canaan Nature Center Cider Saturday: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kick off the cider season and enjoy an afternoon of family fun with apple sling shot, squirrel Olympics, cider press demonstrations, pumpkin scavenger hunts and a bake sale. You can bake your own apples, enjoy sweet goodies and homemade butter, apple and honey tastings, and make harvest crafts. Baked goods will be available to purchase and corn, apples and corn dogs can be purchased to grill over the fire. Local apple cider will be sold. New Canaan High School Football: 1 p.m. The New Canaan High School Rams travel to Stamford to play the Trinity Catholic High School Crusaders. Trinity Catholic High School, 926 Newfield Ave., Stamford.

Sunday

Chabad of New Canaan Community Torah Celebration: 3:15 p.m. For Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, Chabad of New Canaan will have a celebration and dedication for the completion of a Community Torah. The celebration will feature music and dance and a buffet dinner. New Canaan Nature Center, 144 Oenoke Ridge.

Joshua Henkin at New Canaan Library Authors On Stage: 4 p.m. Best-selling author Joshua Henkin speaks about his latest novel, "The World Without You." Henkin is author of "Matrimony," a New York Times Notable Book, and "Swimming Across the Hudson," a Los Angeles Times Notable Book. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
