What’s Happening In New Canaan This Weekend

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan High School’s first football game of the year, a traditional farmers’ market and the first meeting of the library manga club are some of the events planned for this weekend in New Canaan. 

Friday, Sept. 14

New Canaan High School Football: 7 p.m. The New Canaan Rams will host the Bassick High School Lions in the Rams’ season opener at Dunning Stadium. New Canaan High School, Farm Road.

New Canaan High School Field Hockey: 4 p.m. The New Canaan Rams will host the Trumbull High School Golden Eagles at Dunning Stadium. New Canaan High School, Farm Road.

Scapes Exhibit at Heather Gaudio Fine Art Gallery: 11 a.m. The Heather Gaudio Fine Art Gallery presents Scapes, photographs by Bonnie Edelman. The exhibit is open through Sept. 26. In an exhibition consisting of abstract images of landscapes, seascapes and skyscapes, Bonnie Edelman creates captivating visual pieces of vibrant color, creativity and light. Saturday, Sept. 15

New Canaan Farmers’ Market: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Visit vendors selling farm-fresh foods, soaps, crafts and other treats at the Center School parking lot, on the corner of Maple and Main streets. The farmers’ market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, through Nov. 17.

New Canaan Nature Center Fall Cleanup: 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Join the Nature Center for a volunteer Pitch-In Day. Come have fun and help get the Nature Center ready for fall events while meeting with other volunteers. Please wear clothing appropriate for working outdoors. Sunday, Sept. 16

New Canaan Library Manga Club: 1:30 p.m. The club will meet on occasional Sunday afternoons through December to read and discuss manga, watch anime, draw, make crafts and food, and learn about Japanese culture. Silvermine School of Art Faculty Art Show:  1 p.m.-5 p.m. This is the final day of the Silvermine School of Art’s faculty show at Sara Victoria Hall. Showcasing current works of the distinguished artists/teachers of the Silvermine School of Art, this exhibition represents every style and medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and silversmithing.
