What’s Happening in New Canaan This Weekend

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A summer reading wrap-up party, a traditional farmers market and the third portion of a “tour” of France are some of the events planned for this weekend in and around New Canaan. 

Friday

“I’m Starting Kindergarten” program at New Canaan Library:  11 a.m. Children entering Kindergarten are invited to come to this special story time just for them.  There will be stories, songs, a film and a special craft. Saturday

New Canaan Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit with vendors selling farm fresh foods, soaps, crafts and other treats at the Center School Parking Lot on the corner of Maple and Main streets. The Farmers Market is open every Saturday rain or shine through Nov. 17. 

New Canaan Library Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party: Noon. Join the library for games and prizes and your last chance to submit summer reading raffle tickets. The grand prize raffle drawing will begin at 1:30 p.m. The Summer Reading program is for children entering grades 7 to 12. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Sunday

Roger Sherman Inn’s Tour De France: 6 p.m. The Roger Sherman Inn continues its RS Tour de France wine and food series with the third installment, a tribute to the historical home of kings and queens, the fertile Loire Valley, known for its innovative cuisine and white wine. Full Tilt exhibit at Silvermine Arts Center: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bob Gregson’s "Full Tilt," begs the question of being off-kilter or askew. Silvermine Art Gallery, 1037 Silvermine Road.
