New Canaan Sept. 11 Ceremony: 9:45 a.m. New Canaan town officials and emergency responders will pause to recognize the events of Sept. 11, 2001. A wreath will be placed at the new Sept. 11 memorial in front of the New Canaan Fire Department. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.

Pizza & Pages Book Group at New Canaan Library: 6:30 p.m. This is a new monthly book club for readers in grades 6 and 7. Come discuss exciting thrillers with librarians Gretchen Kolderup and Cathy Townsend. This month, Unwind by Neal Shusterman will keep you on the edge of your seat as the protagonists flee for their lives from a government that wants to harvest their organs. 5th Annual New Canaan Library Literary Luncheon With Sally Bedell Smith: 11 a.m. Sally Bedell Smith is the acclaimed author of the best-selling biographies of international leaders and figures William S. Paley, Pamela Harriman, Diana, Princess of Wales, John and Jacqueline Kennedy, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Queen Elizabeth II. A contributing editor at Vanity Fair since 1996, Smith previously worked at Time magazine and The New York Times, where she was a cultural news reporter. She was awarded a Sigma Delta Chi Distinguished Service Award for magazine reporting in 1982 and was a fellow at the Freedom Forum Media Studies Center in 1986. New Canaan Librarys Annual Literary Luncheon has become the most anticipated social event on the librarys calendar since it began just five years ago. This wonderful gathering is the perfect place to hear from a renowned author and catch up with friends after the summer, while supporting the library. The Literary Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets begin at $100, and benefactor tables of 10 are available for purchase. Silvermine School of Art Faculty Show: Noon-5 p.m. The Silvermine School of Art will hold its faculty show daily through Sept. 16 at Sara Victoria Hall. Showcasing the works of the distinguished artists/teachers of the Silvermine School of Art, this exhibition represents every style and medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and silversmithing.
