Monday, July 16

New Canaan Inland Wetlands Commission Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The Inland Wetlands Commission will have its regular meeting. Among the items on the agenda is a discussion of inland wetlands and watercourses regulations with Chairman Dan Stepanek. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.

Summer Movie Mondays at New Canaan Library: 4 p.m. Join the library for a screening of "The Descendants" in the library’s Plaut Room. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Tuesday, July 17

New Canaan Board of Selectmen special meeting: 9 a.m. The Board of Selectmen will have a special meeting. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.

Heather Gaudio Fine Art presents Black + White: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition features works by 14 international artists and will exhibit will offer paintings, photographs, works on paper and sculpture, all in black and white. It will be on display through Aug. 15. Heather Gaudio Fine Art, 21 South Ave.

Why Facebook? Social Networking For Seniors at New Canaan Library: 9:30 a.m. An overview of the most popular social networking websites, what they do and why you want to join. The class includes the optional activity of signing up for a personal Facebook account. Use Facebook to find old friends and schoolmates, keep in touch with your favorite organizations and find out what your grandkids are up to. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

New Canaan Police Commission: 6 p.m. The police commission will have its regular meeting. New Canaan Police Department, 174 South Ave.

New Canaan Town Council: 7:30 p.m. The Town Council will have its regular meeting. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.

Thursday, July 19

Journalist David Kirkpatrick Speaks at New Canaan Library: 7 p.m. David D. Kirkpatrick is the Cairo bureau chief and Middle East correspondent for The New York Times. He will speak as part of the library’s Anita Houston Lecture. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Silvermine Arts Center’s Student Exhibition: noon to 5 p.m. One of the most popular shows of the year, the Silvermine Arts Center’s Student Exhibition showcases the artistic achievements of the Silvermine School of Art students of all ages, from youth to adult. The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays to Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and by appointment Mondays and Tuesdays.

Friday, July 20

The Summer Theater of New Canaan's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat:" 8 p.m. General admission seats start at $20 for open lawn seating and picnics. Performances will be held at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 5. Waveny Park.
