NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Here are a few highlights of things to do in and around New Canaan this weekend.  See our Events Calendar for more items.

Friday, Jan. 25 Author David Troxel at New Canaan Library: Noon. David Troxel, author and teacher of caring for Alzheimer's patients, will speak at the library. He has become internationally known for his writing and teaching in the fields of Alzheimer's disease and long-term care. He has co-authored four books on Alzheimer's care, including “The Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer's Care,” as well as numerous articles relating to Alzheimer's disease care and staff development and training. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Saturday, Jan. 26 New Canaan High School Boys Ice Hockey: 7:30 p.m. The New Canaan Rams will play the Trinity Catholic High School Crusaders. Darien Ice Rink, 55 Old Kings Highway.

Sunday, Jan. 27 New Canaan Library Notes In MidWinter Concert Series: 2 p.m. The Notes in MidWinter concert series continues with the Gavin String Trio and Jonathan Yates on piano. Jesse Mills and Masumi Rostad, violins, and Raman Ramakirshnan, cello, make up the trio. Jonathan Yates, pianist and director of the Norwalk Symphony, joins them to perform the "Beethoven Piano Trio in B flat Major, Op. 11," the "Dohnanyi String Trio" and the "Brahms Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60." Notes in Midwinter is organized and sponsored by the Music Committee of the Friends of the New Canaan Library, chaired by Wendy Kerner.  Registration is not required, but seating is limited and early arrival is recommended.
