NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The next exhibition at the Sorelle Gallery in New Canaan, "Sunny Side," new works by Sheryl Daane-Chesnut and Susan Jositas," will be on display from May 19 to June 20.
An opening reception will be held Thursday, May 19, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Jositas, a Connecticut oil-painter and pastelist, finds inspiration in the landscapes of the Adirondack Mountains and Nantucket’s moors and cottages. “Painting requires being fully present in the moment. It is a gift to be able to see and experience things that are easily missed in the fast pace of life,” she said.
Daane-Chesnut, a California-based artist, works with mixed media to create paintings that intentionally blend abstract and representational disciplines. Complex layers of acrylics, charcoal and oil sticks, spray paint and metal leaf are added and etched away.
The Sorelle Gallery of Fine Art is at 84 Main St., New Canaan.
