The discussion will feature Dr. Eric Kung, a neurologist, and Dr. Jacqueline Brewer, an otolaryngologist, and will include types of headaches and dizziness, individualized therapies, common causes and more, a news release said. The hospital and YMCA partnered to put together the workshop called "Dizziness & Headaches in a Snap."
“Studies show that dizziness, vertigo, and headaches are among the most common symptoms causing elderly patients to visit a physician. Falling can often be a serious consequence of dizziness in this population, and the risk is increased in elderly persons with other medical conditions. We feel it is important to offer this opportunity to the community to educate themselves on the prevalence, diagnosis, and therapies for these common conditions,” Bridget Philipp, senior director of Healthy Living and Medical Fitness at the YMCA, said in the release.
Kung, works out of Fairfield County Neurology at Stamford Health Integrated Practices, and in addition to neurology also specializes in pain medicine and pain management. Brewer works out of the Ears, Nose & Throat Center at the Tully Health Center.
The event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served and registration needs to be made by June 10 by calling 1-877-233-WELL.
It will take place on Thursday, June 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. The YMCA is located at 564 South Ave., New Canaan.
