The deadline for submission is May 27 with the exhibition set to open on July 9.

The Best In Show prize is a solo exhibition at Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan with a $3,000 stipend for show-related expenses.

This year's contest will be curated by Steven Sergiovanni, an art adviser and curator and former director of Mixed Greens, a gallery established in the late 1990s to support emerging artists and offer them a wider audience.

Art of the Northeast is intended to highlight the diversity of work made in the Northeast by emerging and established artists.

The curator will have at his discretion the ability to select a suite of three to five works by an individual artist.

To be considered for the Best In Show prize, artists are required to enter a minimum of three works.

The contest is open to all artists 17 years of age and older residing in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Original artwork in any media will be accepted. Giclée reproductions of original works will not be accepted.

Eligible artwork must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2014, and fall within the restrictions.

Artists are expected to complete the Art of the Northeast entry form on the Slideroom website

The entry fee is $40 for up to 10 entries. For a full overview of guidelines, see the Art of the Northeast prospectus on the Silvermine website.

The Silvermine Galleries are recognized as one of New England’s most respected showcases for established and emerging artists.

In addition to the entry deadline on May 27, important dates to be aware of for the contest include the notification of semifinalists on June 10, the receipt of semifinalists’ artwork on June 25-26, the juror's selection of the final artwork on June 29 and the notification of finalists on June 29 after 6 p.m.
