NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Grace Farms Foundation announced that it will inaugurate its Justice Initiative by organizing a two-day workshop in its New Canaan facility to develop comprehensive long-term strategies and partnerships to combat child sex trafficking and gender-based violence.

Convening from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 6, the workshop is open to the public and will address three key areas: awareness and prevention; investigation and prosecution; and victim services. The Justice Initiative hopes to create a multidisciplinary model focused on disrupting and eradicating child exploitation.

Over the two-day period, the workshop will progress from discussing the issue on an international, national and local level. It will be held at Grace Farms, in the River Building Library, 365 Lukes Wood Road, New Canaan.

The workshop is organized by Sharon Prince, president of Grace Farms Foundation; Krishna R. Patel, Director of Justice Initiatives at Grace Farms; and Rod Khattabi, Director of Safety & Advisor for Justice Initiatives at Grace Farms. Patel is the former Deputy Chief for National Security & Major Crimes for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut. Khattabi previously oversaw the New Haven office in Connecticut with the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations.

Among the awareness and prevention topics to be discussed is the opportunity to impede child trafficking over the Internet through the development and deployment of effective big data technologies.

Grace Farms Foundation, a private non-profit organization, is pioneering the support of the development and facilitation of big data platforms and advanced technologies for use in the public sector by those who are on the frontlines and best positioned to disrupt the criminal networks that exploit children.
