The workshop will introduce you to IFTTT, demonstrate ideas for applying it to your social media and finish with a chance for you to test out your own ideas.

IFTTT stands for If This Then That and is an application that connects accounts, including the major social media platforms and automatically performs actions between those accounts based on the parameters you set.

The session will take place on March 10 at 6 p.m. in the Plaut Room at the New Canaan Library at 151 Main St.

The basic idea is “If x happens then make y”. A specific example would be “If there is a new tweet with the hashtag #newcanaan then add the user to a list called "New Canaanites”. Another, “If there is a new Etsy posting with ‘beaded jewelry’ in the title then pin that to your Pinterest board called ‘Jewelry’.
