NEW CANAAN, Conn. If you need to stock your bookshelf with some good reading material, you may want to drop in on the New Canaan Library this weekend.
The annual John Randolph Book Sale will begin Friday in the Librarys Lamb Room. The semi-annual event, hosted by the Friends of the New Canaan Library, is named for longtime library volunteer John Randolph.
The sale will feature more than 20,000 books, an extensive collection of DVDs, audiobooks, music CDs and videos. Many of the materials are donated by town residents and library supporters.
The sale will run from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday. Items will be 50 percent off on Sunday and $5 a bag on Monday. Books will be available for free from 12:15 to 2 p.m. Monday, though donations will be appreciated.
Due to the sales popularity, numbers to hold attendees positions in line for opening day will be given out starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
Proceeds from the book sale will enable the library to present art shows, concerts, film discussions, book discussions and children's programs, as well as provide other services and facilities for the community.
A silent auction of premium and rare books will run until 5 p.m. Saturday in the librarys Curtis Gallery.
