NEW CANAAN, Conn. An exciting new feature of the annual New Canaan Nature Center Fall Fair is sure to appeal to the hundreds of adults who attend with their children.
The Fall Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, will offer pony rides, a haunted woodland trail, apple sling shots, nature-based crafts, a hay maze and cupcake and pumpkin decorating. (Members may arrive at 9 a.m.)
But it will also include an Eco-Village where exhibitors will showcase the latest green products and services. We know our members and the greater community always looking for ideas and information to 'green' their home, life and family, said Nature Center Executive Director Laura Heckman. The Fall Fair is a great opportunity to share these resources and promote some great local businesses."
Participating Eco-Village exhibitors include Alteris Renewables, BPC Green Builders, Going Green Landscape Lighting, Graze Delivered, Sunlight Solar Energy Inc., Vinylume Inc./Renewal by Andersen and Pesticide-Free New Canaan. Their representatives will educate and consult with attendees as well as share special offers.
The Fall Fair will feature live entertainment and fresh food. The Moses Brothers band will entertain with a live performance of blues/bluegrass/rock music. The fourth annual Apple Pie Eating Contest will begin at 3 p.m. with categories for youth and adults. The entry fee is $5 for children and $15 for adults. Prizes will be awarded. Other live shows include birds of prey demonstrations, shadow puppet shows and story readings between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Admission is free and parking is available at St. Marks and the First Presbyterian Church. Tickets can be purchased for $1 each for activities and food. Attendees may join or renew their Nature Center membership online for $65.
