Former NBA player Chris Herren will attend as a special guest speaker.
The Giving Hope Gala includes dinner, dancing, a live auction and an after-party.
The gala is a fundraiser for the Patient Financial Aid Fund, serving individuals who would benefit from Silver Hill’s long-term residential treatment programs but are without adequate resources to cover the costs.
Herren, a former NBA player and recovering addict, is the founder of The Herren Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing treatment navigation, educational and mentoring programs to those touched by addiction and to educate people of all ages on the dangers of substance abuse. In 2012 the Herren Project launched a national anti-substance abuse campaign, Project Purple, to encourage people of all ages to stand up to substance abuse.
The Brain and Behavior Research Foundation will receive the President’s Award. They are committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research.
Dr. Rocco Marotta, will receive the 2016 Visionary Award for his work as a psychiatrist in Silver Hill Hospital's Transitional Living Program. Lucas Hunt will serve as auctioneer.
This year, Sadri Garakani is the Giving Hope Gala Honorary Chair. Todd Hollander and Audrey Z. Zinman are Co-Chairs. Drs. Amir Garakani, and Matthew Griepp, are the Junior Committee co-Chairs. The Honorary Committee includes Dr. Jennifer L.
