The New York Met mascot will be at Citibank of New Canaan, 175 Elm St., for its Family Kid Day, a statement said. Mr. Met will there from noon to 12:45 p.m., but the whole event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The New Canaan Police Department will also have representatives there to conduct a Child Identification Clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The goal of the clinic is to provide parents with the vital information police need in case their child goes missing, the statement said.
The kits New Canaan police use include the child’s personal information, medical information, ink strip and fingerprint chart, a DNA sample, and an instruction guide for parents. Parents can collect the DNA sample themselves by swabbing the inside of their child’s cheek, the statement said. Before doing the swab children must not eat or drink for about 30 minutes, the release said.
The kit should be updated every year with a recent photo of the child as well as any new physical and medical information, the statement said.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
