NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Mike Shalin, author of "Donnie Baseball: The Definitive Biography of Don Mattingly," will be at the New Canaan Library Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to discuss his book.
During the time he wore now-retired No. 23, Mattingly was loved by Yankee fans for his passion for the game and thrilling batting title chases. Known affectionately as "Donnie Baseball," Mattingly was an example of consistency and greatness while playing first base 14 seasons in the Bronx.
Shalin sheds new light on the baseball legend, revealing Mattingly's moxie and lifelong dedication to the game. He goes in-depth and follows an incredibly talented, hard-working player who is continuing his baseball dream as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. During his Yankee years, Mattingly became one of the most loved players in the history of the franchise.
