Chill Out on New Canaan Nature Center Night Hike

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Who says going for a hike a night is a bad thing?

Certainly not the staff at the New Canaan Nature Center, who will host their annual Holiday Night Hike on the nature center property off Oenoke Ridge Road starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16.

Geoff McCann, the nature center’s education program manager, said the hike is a celebration of the holiday season and the approaching Dec. 22 Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. “It’s really a special time of year. We want to celebrate the season and get outside,” McCann said. Hikers will also get to learn how animals deal with cold winter evenings, he said.

“We hope it will be clear so we can see some stars,” he said.

Tickets for the night hike are $5 for Nature Center members and $8 for non-members. For more information, contact the New Canaan Nature Center at 203-966-9577.
