The screening takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the New Canaan facility.
Howe will present her new film, "Brigid of Murroe," made in collaboration with visual artist Sheila Gallagher.
The film explores the identity of Brigid of Ireland, a legendary religious icon, and her adolescent years spent in the town of Murroe, Ireland.
Howe is the author of more than 20 books of poetry, essays and fiction.
These include "One Crossed Out," "The Lyrics," "Come and See" and "Second Childhood," which was a Finalist for the National Book Award in 2015.
She has won the Ruth Lilly Lifetime Achievement Award for Poetry in 2009 and was a Finalist, in 2015, for The International Man Booker Award for her fiction.
She lives in Boston.
Howe will also be available to sign copies of her work, which can be purchased at the library.
