Dickey currently serves on the board of the Garden Conservancy and is one of the founders of its Open Days program. In her presentation,“Some of My Favorite Gardens and Why,” she will showcase a variety of spectacular private gardens in the United States and Europe that appeal to her because of their particularly strong sense of design, atmosphere, or spirit of originality.
She will also share the delights and challenges of creating her own garden, Duck Hill, over a period of 30-plus years. Dickey has written numerous articles on garden design and has been published in House and Garden, House Beautiful, Horticulture, Elle Décor, Fine Gardening and Garden Design. She also serves on the boards of Stonecrop and the North Salem Open Land Foundation, a preservation and environmental group in her town of residence.
This presentation will be held at the New Canaan Nature Center and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m., followed by the lecture at 10 a.m. Additionally, books by Dickey will be available for signing and sale.
