“As a local, family owned community based business, we are grateful for the support that we receive from the communities where we conduct business," Executive Vice President at Pet Pantry Warehouse, Adam Jacobson said. "The New Canaan Dog Days event is just one way we can express our gratitude for the support that we receive from our New Canaan client base and to reward the wonderful work of local animal groups at the same time.”

The event schedule includes a full afternoon of fun activities, insightful lectures & demonstrations as well as some exciting contests to raise money for Adopt-A-Dog (adopt-a-dog.org) and Strays & Others (facebook.com/straysandothers). Both local pet rescue organizations will have animals available for adoption during the event. Pet food vendors will be on hand to distribute tons of free giveaways and samples. Food and refreshments will be available and DJ Cochon de Lait will be on hand to maximize the fun.

Additional event features include; art activities, face painting, petting zoo, scavenger hunt, family and pet portraits, caricature drawings, Q&A's with a dog trainer, free contests; musical sits, bobbing for hot dogs and pie eating.

There will be a special guest appearance by New Canaan K9 Unit.

Pet Pantry will donate 10% of pre-tax sales on all purchases made at the New Canaan store location on Saturday, May, 22 to Strays & Others and Adopt-A-Dog.

The event beneficiaries explain the importance of New Canaan Dog Days and what the money raised will be used for.

"Adopt-A-Dog is truly grateful to be a part of New Canaan Dog Days," said Kristen Rice, Executive Director at Adopt-A-Dog, Inc. "Donations raised from this amazing event will go directly towards the training, enrichment and medical care that each of our dogs receives to help prepare them for their forever home."

Claudia Weber, founder of Strays & Others is equally excited about the event.

"We are thrilled to be working with Pet Pantry again on the annual New Canaan Dog Days event," she said. "The funds raised and donated to Strays & Others will go a long way to help dogs and cats in need, especially homeless pets from New Canaan and surrounding towns. Funds are always needed for veterinary care, food, and shelter. Those expenses can add up quickly on one pet alone, so the support can make a difference."

Parking is available at the Metro North Railroad Station at 198 Elm St New Canaan, Connecticut. For more information visit Pet Pantry online (www.ppwpet.com)
